HideFunny story...Woke up early yesterday, caught the bus on time and arrived about 15 min early. Being new in the area, I didn't find it odd that there weren't more people there. As I walked in, an administrator poked his head out of a back room and asked why I was there so early.

Oi, tudo bem?
I have been reading books from Brazil. Most of the time, I may not understand the meaning or I guess the meaning, but I do know how to pronounce most of these words.
Hello Chad,
No problem.
If you have any doubts, we're here to help

Obrigado, Cristiane!
My question was from my cell phone, and autocorrected "Spanish FOR this" into "Spanish GOT this," so thank you for understanding my crazy question, nonetheless!
Hi Chad,
Sure, you can use the expression "Como se diz _____ em portuguรชs?"
(How do you say_____in Portuguese?.
This example is from the Lesson Notes (pdf):
Como se diz "computer" em portuguรชs? /"How do you say 'computer' in Portuguese?"
It's very practical and you'll be understood

Is there a reflexive verb like Spanish got this, as there was for "como se diz..." that you could say, "como se lรช..."?
Oi Carole,
Thanks for your comment!
And yes, all languages have their rules... but I guess some have more exceptions than rules!
So I hope you continue your great work learning and reading in Portuguese!
And let us know if you have any comments!

"The rules are a
bit complicated but at least there are rules, English doesn't even have those."
English has plenty of rules, too bad nobody - not even the English teachers - seem to know them :/ I've had not one but two college level professors tell me an English reading joke that, had they known anything about English phonics and phonemics, didn't actually work. It's probably because there's no official rule set anywhere, but they do exist.
But yes, Portuguese is much much easier to read ^^ Maybe even easier than German, and that's really easy to read too!
