Oi Eric,

That's right! There are many different accents in Brazil, so you can use one of them :smile:

Hope it helps!

Hello Paloma.

When I had done the first part of that section, I could NOT open this second part for which you sent the link.

Now it is possible!

Does your answer mean that the final โ€œrโ€ in the list of words under point 2 and point 3 in my question COULD be pronounced in the SAME way and that light variations should my attributed to a local โ€œcoloringโ€?

Hi Eric,

The way we pronounce the "r" have many variations in Portuguese.

You could say it more like the English "r", or even more similar to the French or Ducth "r".

I think this video may help you a little:

I hope it helps!

In your section about pronunciation of the โ€œrโ€, I read that the โ€œrโ€ at the end of a word should be pronounced as โ€œhโ€.

1) In many words in your lessons I hear something between โ€œhโ€ and โ€œrโ€, at the back of the throat, a bit like the French โ€œrโ€ but less stressed.

Is this correct?

2) This seems to be the case in the following words in your video lessons:

* trabalhar

* preparar.

* danรงar.

* chegar.

* morar.

* conversar.

3) However, in the following words, in your video lessons, I seem to hear โ€œrโ€ with the tip of the tongue although less stressed, a bit like the Dutch โ€œrโ€ (not the French โ€œrโ€).

Is this correct?

# lavar

# guardar

# procurar

# desenhar

# mostrar

# tocar

# colocar

# explicar

# esperar

# segurar

Thanks in advance for the clarification.
