Oi,

I live in a coastal city. I can jog right up to the northern most area. Of course, if I want to go to the more popular beaches, I have to drive there.

Hi Richard,

Thank you for posting.

"Whose" in Portuguese is the interrogative "de quem?", as in "Whose pen is this?" ("De quem รฉ esta caneta").

"Who" in Portuguese is the interrogative "Quem?", as in "Who is this woman in the photograph?" ("Quem รฉ esta mulher na foto?").

Please check out our grammar point on demonstrative pronouns:

https://www.portuguesepod101.com/learningcenter/reference/grammar/14?

We use โ€œestaโ€ (this, feminine), "este" (this, masculine) to refer to things close to the person speaking and โ€œessaโ€ (that, feminine), "esse" (that, masculine) to refer to things close to the person being spoken to.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Cristiane
