Olá, PortuguesePod101 listeners! How do you say "I'm sorry" where you're from? What sorts of things do you have to apologize for, assuming you're not completely blameless? Go ahead and fess up in a comment!

Hello, Arild!

Desculpe/desculpa is an imperative form, but it is not being used to give an order, it's just to show how she feels bad about having to cancel the event with a friend.

Sincerely

"Desculpa, Ryan mas eu não vou poder sair contigo hoje a noite."

"This imperative form is sometimes used to add a bit of emphasis and Laura used it to emphasize what she was feeling."

But she didnt use it, did she? Or am I missing something?

Desculpe is the imperative form?

Hi Zhuldyzay,

Thank you for your message.

In "He asked me to (verb)." we indeed use "Ele me pediu para (verb)". It's the correct sentence for that meaning. Sometimes in casual speech you'll hear "para" as the contraction "pra".

Hello

Why in the case "me pediu para trabalhar" you used "para" instead of "de" (or maybe another preposition)

If the audio lesson speed is too fast, you can adjust it by clicking on the ‘1x’ button next to the volume control icon (you can choose either 0.75x or 0.5x to slow it down).

My comment is the following: sometimes words and phrases are be very very fast spoken.

The sentences are sometimes unintelligible because of the speed of pronunciation.

Can it really not something slower?

Hi Richard,

Thank you for your message.

"Nós" (we) is a first person, plural personal pronoun. Please note that it uses a grave accent in "o".

Some examples:

Nós vamos ao supermercado. (We're going to the supermarket.)

Nós vamos ao museu hoje. (We're going to the museum today.)

Please check out this grammar point with the detailed explanation of personal pronouns:
