Cultural Insights
There is an interesting birthday tradition that Brazilian's have. They sing the same song as people from the United States, with some radically changed lyrics, but they also clap in rhythm to the music. Now, I apologize for my voice, but I know no other way to help you understand what I'm explaining.
(sings part of the song)
See? It's the same melody. Then they do it again, double-time.
(sings again)
It's a fun tradition that makes the party very energetic.
Brazilians are very festive and on Christmas and New Year's they are always throwing parties that usually last all day or all night, and they are constantly saying Feliz Natal or Feliz Ano Novo to each other. So, you'll be using these phrases a lot.
