Hi Patrick,

Thank you for posting.

Regarding the [vocabulary list] audios, please try to listen to them a few times while reading the text as well. You can also add the entries to your [Word Bank] by clicking on the [plus] sign on the right and adding them to your [Word bank]. Once there, the audio also has the 0.5x speed option to help you understand the pronunciation better:

Regarding ordering at restaurants, the waiters will surely understand if you request them to speak a little slower in Portuguese. This is the same for most Brazilian speakers, who are very friendly. It could help you understand the native speaker's pronunciation better. 👍

Hope this helps. Also, with PortuguesePod101's Premium PLUS, you learn Portuguese with your own teacher through 1-on-1 interaction anywhere, anytime. You will receive weekly assignments and non-stop feedback to always be improving. To understand better how it works, we suggest you to check the program http://www.PortuguesePod101.com/myteacher

I still can’t understand when people speak Portuguêse which prevents me from conversing which prevents me from learning as much because I can’t use the words that I learn and I forget them. I study and practice every day which includes writing and speaking with a Brasílian 1-3 hours each day but I can’t understand them after 16 months of doing this. I have to use a translator. I can’t understand your audios either. I catch an occasional word but thats it. When i hear people speak i can understand 1–2 world phrases but sentences are just garbled sounds. My pronunciation is excellent as is my spelling. I’ve been to Brasil 14 times now and just returned last month after being there for a month. I visited the friend that doesn’t speak English thinking it would really help but since I couldn’t understand them it stopped most learning. I haven’t met anyone online or in person with the same problem and I meet people that can converse after studying 1 month abd I’ve been studying Portuguêse for 4 years and 5 months. It’s frustrating to work this hard and not be able to order food at restaurants because I don’t understand the waiters. Any thoughts? It’s almost like my listening can't keep up after 1-2 words. I had my hearing tested and it’s ok, just a little low in the high frequency area. Patrick

Olá Kateryna,

Thank you for posting!

Please note that "preguiçoso" is the masculine form of the noun "lazy". The feminine form is "preguiçosa".👍

Great to have you studying Portuguese here with us! Keep it up!

Sincerely,
