INTRODUCTION
Considering the fact that nowadays allergies are more common than ever, we decided to teach you how to explain if you have an allergy.
GRAMMAR POINT
In Portuguese, “I’m allergic to this product” is:
Sou alérgico a este produto.
Let’s break it down:
(slow) Sou a-lér-gi-co a es-te pro-du-to.
Once more:
Sou alérgico a este produto.
The first word Sou is a form of the verb that means “to be”.
(slow) Sou.
Sou.
The second word alérgico means “allergic”.
(slow) A-lér-gico.
alérgico.
Next we have a which means “at” or “to” - in this situation, it means “to”.
The words este produto translate as “this product”.

Let’s hear the expression again:
Sou alérgico a este produto.
You can point to the product at the same time.
In a case of gluten allergy the phrase will sounds like this:
Sou alérgico a glúten.
“I’m allergic to gluten.”
In this sentence you definitely were able to guess the meaning of the word glúten. That is “gluten”.

In Portugal, we eat a lot of seafood. So if you’re allergic to it, remember the next sentence.
Let’s try to say the word for seafood now. In Portuguese “seafood” is mariscos.
