HideWhen you're in Brazil for just a short time, taking the taxi is probably the best transportation. Just be prepared to pay a lot for it!
Have you every taken a taxi in Brazil?
Hi Cristina,
Thank you for posting.
We checked the audio and it seems to be working well. It has 8min52s and after the last taught sentence "aqui está bem" the lesson is finished with the host saying "alright, that's going to do it for today (...) if you stop by, be sure to leave us a comment" ;)
You can also download the audio file and listen to it with an audio player on your device. If you experience any other technical issues, please send us an email at contactus@PortuguesePod101.com
"(...) tá bom" is indeed commonly spoken in Brazil. In casual conversations you'll frequently hear the "tá", a shortened version of "está".
It's great to know that you're living in São Paulo! We hope you're enjoying the city. Indeed Uber is very popular here.
We'll surely take your suggestions into consideration! Thank you very much for your feedback.
Here are a few lessons that can help you with your Uber rides:

Hi...
I'm using my iPhone and the audio is not working. It stops after "leave us a comment".
First I want to say thank you for these lessons. They are fantastic. I'm living in São Paulo, Brasil temporarily and have significantly enhanced my Portuguese while studying with you.
Secondly - I've noticed that "aqui está bem" is rarely said here. They tend to say "aqui tá bom". "Tá bom" is informal for "ok" or "yep, got it" so if you want to say "here is good" you'd say "aqui tá bom".
Also just want to add that I wish this lesson covered more conversational basics for taxi and Uber trips because Uber is really popular here abd they tend to want to interact with you more. I first got here I didn't understand what they were asking me or how to ask for something I needed, and I didn't want them to think I wasn't being friendly (although you were always able to rate your driver, the drivers can now rate their passengers too) When you get in you should always say hello and usually they will verify the address you're going to and sometimes ask if you have a special route you want them to take. You may want the air conditioner or heat turned on, or to open or close a window. The seat belt may not work. You may need to ask if they have a phone charger, or if they can move the seat up or back so you have more room. Sometimes they'll offer candy or water so you'll need to recognize those phrases and how to respond appropriately. You may have to ask if you can put something in their trunk because you have shopping bags. When they know you're a foreigner they usually ask where you're from and if you like São Paulo (or Rio)...basically, they want to interact with you. So it would be great to teach some basics so people are prepared.
Sorry for the long comment. Thank you (Brigada") again!
Hello Miemie,
Thanks for posting.
The MP3 can be downloaded by right clicking on "Download MP3" on the right menu after "Lesson Audio" line. Next, just choose "Save link as", choose the folder in your computer to save the file and then click on "save". The audio will be saved as a .mp3 file.
We tested it here and it is working normally.
You can also listen to the audio while you're online (in this case it is not necessary to download the file).
If you have any doubts, please let us know.
