John: Hi everyone, and welcome back to PortuguesePod101.com. I'm John.
Ana Clara: And I'm Ana Clara!
John: This is Must-Know Portuguese Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 1. In this lesson, you'll learn very popular internet slang among young people.
John: These expressions were born on the internet, in social media. They're so popular that they have quickly become common in the day to day, outside the internet.

Ana Clara: [SLOW] só que não [NORMAL] só que não
John: Listeners, please repeat.

[pause - 5 sec.]
John: Use this slang expression when you say something ironically, and want to emphasize the irony. It comes after the irony, just like the English "Not!" Sometimes it is abbreviated as SQN. It was born in social media.

Ana Clara: [NORMAL] - Você viu que eles terminaram? - BERRO!
John: Okay, what's our next expression?
Ana Clara: Falsiane
John: This is a made up word, so there's no direct literal translation. It is a contraction of
Ana Clara: falsa,
John: meaning "fake", with
Ana Clara: ane,
John: the ending of various female names. But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "a fake, phony, untrustworthy female, who pretends to be nice and good but wishes you harm or will harm you."
