Did you notice how I replaced o meu pai, a minha mãe with os meus pais?

"This is my family. Me and my parents."
The phrase, os meus pais, means, "my parents." Os meus pais.
Remember, in Portuguese, all nouns have grammatical gender and are either singular or plural. Pais is masculine and plural — a fact which will determine the form of other words in the sentence.

Before this is os meus, "my." Os meus.
Let's start with meus, "my." Meus. Meus.
Meus is masculine and plural to agree with pais.
Before meus is the article os. Think of it like "the" in English. Os. Os.
Os is also masculine and plural to agree with pais.
Note: in this sentence, the article os does not have a corresponding English translation.
Together, it's os meus, a phrase meaning "my." Os meus.
All together, os meus pais, means, "my parents." Os meus pais.
Moving to the front of the sentence, eu, "me" in this context. Eu. Eu.
After this is e, "and." E. E.
All together, Esta é a minha família. Eu e os meus pais.
"This is my family. Me and my parents."
You should be aware of the plural form, but you won't need it for this lesson.
